Christmas 2011

Although circumstances caused our Christmas play to be delayed one week, it was still a real blessing.  The children represented the Lord well, the message was clear, and God was glorified during the Christmas season.

We thank the Lord for giving us his Son and for Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.

Missionary to Poland

Ben Layer, missionary to Poland, and his daughter Maia reported to our church on 11-13-11.  Unfortunately, due to other commitments, the rest of the family could not be with us.  We enjoyed catching up with Brother Layer and meeting his daughter.  Things are going well for the work in Poland and they are enjoying their furlough.  The Layers miss their Polish brothers and sisters and are anxious to return.  May the Lord continue to bless them and their work.

2011 Harvest Party

Forty people attended this years harvest party at Sheffler's Pond.  Fun included football, a treasure hunt, a donut-eating contest and a hay ride.  Everyone had a great time.  The food and fellowship were teriffic!  A short period of drizzle did not dampen our spirits....God is so Good!  Join us next year!

Northfork Farms 2011

Our faithful Sunday Schoolers were rewarded with a trip to the Northfork Farms Ranch.  Much fun was had! Kids groomed horses, visted an old-west town, rode simulated bulls, went thru a petting zoo and fed all sorts of critters.  God gave us a great day and our church-family had a teriffic time together!  Congratulations to the kids for their perfect attendance in Sunday School!

MIssionary Visits

Within three weeks time, three missionary families visited GBC while on furlough.  The Ruppels (Cambodia) are shown.  The Sommers (Ghana), and the Youngs (Taiwan) also reported.  What a joy to see them again and hear how the Lord is blessing their work for Him!  We are so grateful that we can assist in their ministries.  Pray for our missionaries (see the Missionary Page).

Faithful Kids Zoo Trip

Faithful kids who attended Sunday school for six weeks in a row were rewarded with a trip to Potter Park Zoo in Lansing.  The kids enjoyed themselves as did the adults.  The Lord gave us a fine day for the outing!

July Canoe Trip

The faithful Sunday school kids and the adults had a great time on the canoe trip down the Shiawassee River.  Many kids qualified by attending Sunday school 5 straight  weeks.

Although the river was more like an obstacle course, everyone stayed relatively dry and no canoes tipped.  God gave us a great day and a safe trip!

Best VBS ever!

Praise the Lord!  We had our highest attendance ever this year and our high bus ridership.  Most importantly, 18 kids accepted Jesus Christ as their saviors.  Thanks to all our volunteers who helped the VBS run smoothly.

God is so good!

Good Sports

Our church family enjoys keeping fit through sports.  Twice monthly, our sportmanship is tested with a kickball or baseball game.

We have yet to see a bench-clearing brawl or broken shin. :-)

Monthly Workday

Once a month on Saturdays, we get together for a few hours of fun and fellowship as we clean, paint, dust, sneeze and mop.  Of course, we pray then share coffee and donuts before we start our work.
